I have lost confidence in my front brakes (rear pads and discs are new). I took it to the specialist that looks after the car about 2 months ago and he confirmed that the discs are "lipped up". However, he suggested driving it for a few more miles as the pads were still relatively new.

1000 miles later, I am not convinced that those brakes are performing the way they should, though the pads continue to show very little signs of wear.

According to the specialist (backed up by a second opinion), the discs have not reached the minimum level and could be skimmed.

So, is it worth skimming or should I just replace? The difference between both options is about £170? (£450 vs £280) and includes new pads, shims, sensors and labour.

Id replace if I were you. Im never happy with skimmed discs on 170 mph cars.

Had my discs skimmed because there was rust after the car sat for a few months. Discs came up like new. Pads were also skimmed to match the discs. Also the disc hubs were give a coat of aluminium oxide just like the new discs. Done about 3k mile now and all is well, they look pretty much like new. Cost was £80 per pair at a good independent.
