Well, it's that time of year again and my car insrurance is up for renewal. I got my joke of a renewal quote last week from the high ranking naval officer company, which was £1987 for the year, so I went onto a few comparison websites and managed to get a quote of £789 online with the same company, so called up and asked them to match it, they did, had a plesent conversation and paid for it in full last night, no hassle or anything.

I was previously paying monthly which was £206pm after the APR rape, but now it's effectivly dropped to circa £65pm and my excess has dropped to £150 which I'm delightled with, and also I found out since I've turned 25 they will now cover me third party driving other peoples cars, which was like the cherry on top.

I see a lot of posts compaining about insrance prices, renewal quotes, claim culture etc. Have anyone else had a supprisingly good experience with insrance companies for a change?

I had almost the exact same experience with the same company. Got a ridiculous renewal through which I believe was an increase of around £300. I went online, and got some quotes from both of the sister companies. £500 cheaper than my renewal. Rang them up, they managed to beat both quotes and I even got Protected NCB at no extra cost. A very polite, helpful person on the end of the phone too. Very good, but a shame about the pisstake renewal quote in the first place!

I then bought a new car a month later, which I couldn't get quoted for online with the same company. I rang them later that same day, they quoted within seconds and then gave me a bloody good deal on Temporary 30-day Cover for my other car which hadn't sold in time. Great service!

Always have great service from Peter Best, can't complain at insuring a 370bhp Supercharged Jaguar for £150, and they cope with me cocking them about (cancelling policies, swapping policies between cars etc) with grace and without silly charges. I don't bother looking about anymore, saving £20 a year isn't worth risking poor service and I'd probably end up paying more then the saving in 'admin' fees.

never had a problem with Direct line with my gti6. Always cheaper than any comparision site I checked with every renewal and each renewal was cheaper than the last one too! Wasn't best pleased about fees for tapping a few new digits into a computer when i changed car and i will certainly be looking around come renewal time but happy enough with them for the past few years.

My other half had a fairly nasty motorway incident in July, she swerved to avoid a car that pulled out and caught central reservation, fortunately managing to avoid colision with any other cars. This was approximately 10:30pm on a Friday night. I informaed Admiral, our insurer, on Saturday morning who were very professional and organised. The entire claim was progressed very quickly and we eventually recieved a cheque on our door mat by the following Thursday morning. I put the speed of this down to there not being any other drivers involved but I was genuinely surprised at how quickly they acted. A thumbs up from me for Admiral!

They left me sitting at a bodyshop for 4 hours because they would pay for the correct repair.

Good News. I was nowhere near the bodyshop, but sat at home, and they gave me £150.

Crashed my GTi6 after a van cut me up in December 2009. Took out a small tree and scratched the armco. Like literally barely touched it.

Police arrive to take a statement etc. and make sure I'm not drunk or anything, they have to report it to the council as I killed a small tree and put some blue paint on their barrier.

I was peeved because it turned what could have been a simple TPFT accident into me losing my NCB. If I had have flicked the inertia switch, stuck the front bumper in the car, put the hazards on and limped the GTi6 to a layby further up the road avoiding all Police intervention I would have saved thousands!

Fast forward to a year later having paid £rape.95 on my insurance, turned out the council weren't bothered about pursuing for the loss of their little tree or the blue bit of paint on their armco. So my NCB is re-instated.

Yay.

I had a silly renewall with the same naval company, got a far better price from from thier ringing sister company, phoned the original back and they immediatly gave me a far better price.

Some would say that's great service, other would say they're trying to take me for a ride.

A-Plan and Markerstudy.

I posted about this at the time - I had a vandalism claim. Broker was awesome. Didn't deal with the insurer directly - but they were excellent about paying, getting inspector out; generally high quality. Have remained with them desote there being cheaper options out there.
