Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has had a go at replacing the hood on their wedge themselves?

Also has anyone had experience of Autohoods?
www.autohoods.co.uk/ca_tvr_tasmin.htm
Or know of any manufacturers they'd recommend.

I had a hood fitted to my old 400SE by Martrim in Cheshire who did an excellent job, however my 280i is only intended as a good weather toy and is not going to be stored outside and used in all weathers as the 400 was.
I've fitted a hood to an MGB before and experienced no problems with it. A wedge hood looks very simple to fit to me, it justs needs a lot more glue than an MG.

Your thoughts gentlemen?

Been there done that and very recently. The problem with the wedges are that they are all different but the hood's aren't unlike an MG where the cars are all the same and so I guess are the hoods.

Cheers for that Steve.

Any chance you could give me a bit more detail of your experience?

Bob.

I recently got a hood from autohoods, came with fabric etc to match for the targa panel, velcro strips for the sides etc. Delivered in a week from order and good quality too. Guys that fitted it for me said they had to re-stitch the false seams on the targa panel to get them to line up correctly, they are all different of course. Very happy all round with Autohoods

I shall be doing that once I've completed my full interior re-trim in Bison. Having looked at the job, I think it is straight forward enough once the hood has been made up.

I must take the opportunity to plug my original TVR factory-made brand new hood (rear section only, but I can source matching mohair for the targa if necessary). Never been fitted to a car.

£450 - ideal for that concourse finish.

Sorry Adam, but I don't think you'll shift it a that price. I had a complete hood made to measure and fitted to my old TVR for less than that.

What - by the factory? I know you can get remanufactured hoods for £300 or so, but it's not the same as an original one, if you're doing a concourse restoration.

Not by the factory, by Martrim.

Just want to keep the rain out.
That said, I haven't seen a better one on any other wedge.

Got a great hood job done through thev8centre.com in High Wycombe - can really recommend them.
