Whatever happened to deep-dish rims?

I love a bit of dish on a car wheel but it seems to have become retro now, mores the pity.

I can't remember the last modern car I saw with standard wheels that are dished, the spokes are always flush with the front face, even on expensive performance cars.

So why is this - fashion, regulation, aerodynamics, cost?

Good question, I love a bit of dish but as you say, you don't see it much these days.

On most cars, the spoke goes right to the edge of the rim.. Making it look bigger.

Agreed - it's a fading sight

My older brothers last Merc, a CL55 had a set of Brabus wheels fitted, nice deep ones on the rear - they looked the business.

I know what you mean, I miss them too. I sought out a set of Borbet Bs for my Golf.

As more cars went to fwd the need for wider rear rims lessened,so deep dish wheels became less popular fitments,those that stuck to rwd, BMW for instance still obviously spec them

My thoughts exactly. Aren't most of the examples on here are just heavily offset rather than dished?
