getting a bit sick of seeing cars with black door handles and bumpers

I know most of these are base models but seriously

how much would it cost to paint two bloody door handles

saw a new Polo today in white with black handles, awful

The type of plastic they use doesn't take well to being painted either iirc as it's quite porous.

Guess you don't like the Panda 100HP then with all the Black trim bits, this is the top spec model. Lower spec models don't have the black trim

It costs about 50p to paint the door handles. VW have worked out that they can charge £500 to idiots to paint the door handles if they make it an optional extra.

Don't mind the black bits on my car, the facelift SE is all colour coded and in my opinion worse off for it.

There's nothing worse than the obsessive desire for everything to be colour coded under some kind of pretence that it's premium. Featureless and boring.

Not quite. Everything thing JDM up til 1997-98 had black trims, apart from the RAs which had no trims at all!



I've had a fair bit of pressure from my mates to paint the trims on my WRX, but I like having black trims on cars. It used to annoy me a fair amount when people would insist on colour coding every little bit, leaving the car look like a colour'd blob.

The problem isn't the black plastic; the problem is the people who get upset about it.

If you buy a decent car the colour of the exterior fittings is neither here nor there. Base model of a good car is always better then the tarted-up model of a lesser car.

Disagree completely, why have a car of basic spec just because its a higher value car, just seems like snobbery to me would rather have a "lesser" car with all the bells and whistles than a poverty spec car that leaves others knowing I couldn't afford a higher spec

I find black plastic is usually a good thing. Colour coded door handles usually look worse than contrasting ones, and this is sometimes the case for colour coded bumpers too.

In a more practical sense, bumpers are supposed to protect bodywork from bumps, now a small scuff requires expensive paint work.
