50mph Zone M4 J16-15

Anyone any idea why this is in place?

Its been there for nearly a month now and not once have I seen any evidence of roadworks, lane closures etc. Have passed through there anywhere between 7am and 11pm and not seen anything. Perhaps I've not been looking hard enough!

I went through this limit last week, a sign said it was because of an incomplete safety barrier. I didn't see any missing / broken barriers.

Ah, thanks for that - must have missed the sign! Can't say I've seen any safety barriers missing either but there you go - maybe they've spent a month trying to find the incomplete barrier!!

There's been a random 50mph limit on the A1 for a small stretch just north of Peterborough for about a year due to 'damaged barrier'. Clearly they are not going to fix it.

I live in Swindon and in the time that speed limit has been there, I've passed through it 4 or 5 times a week.

I am yet to see:

1. the so called missing safety barrier
2. anyone adhering to the limit
3. any police enforcing the limit

So I have no idea why it's there.
