My Griff has just been for a 12K service...the mechanic who drove it into the HHC workshop commented that he thought the brake pedal was a bit soft.

Brakes are working fine and the car pulls up well, but in the few years I have owned the car there has always been about an inch of travel on the brake pedal...never mentioned as being a problem at previous services or MOT time.

Post service, new fluid, brakes bled etc, the pedal is slightly firmer but still has a small amount of travel... more noticeable when the car is stationary.

I'm told "most TVR's" have a fairly solid pedal with little or no travel...that this might just be part of the "character" nothing to worry about but to monitor it in case it gets any worse.

So...how firm is your brake pedal??

I changed the brake hoses to braided and the pedal feel is firm and good!

I'm with TV8 here and have a nice hard pedal fee due to braided hoses. It does make a difference when you need to stamp your foot down. Hopefully your brake hoses are OK but a friend bought some braided ones for a wedge and was horrified to find one had a rather large bulge in it which I think was only seen when it was off the car - they hadn't been aware of a problem but it was a luckily timed swap so it might be worth checking yours out when under pressure.

Thanks for the replies ...biggrin

I'm confident the condition of the flexi brake hoses have been checked as part of the 12K service, however I'll double check myself tomorrow and will look into having them replaced with braided hoses over the winter.

One side effect of the now slightly firmer pedal is that I'll need to re-adjust my pedals for heel toe as the accelerator pedal now sits too low by comparison...supports my theory that the brake pedal has always had a bit of travel.

Personally, I like a pedal with long travel.

My S3c had a lot of travel, my Chimaera 450 a bit less, and the Griff has very little (just had new braided lines and calipers remanufactured too).
