I have a 2012 C350 Coupe. Last night I noticed that the symbols around the rotary lightswitch on the dashboard were not illuminated - despite all other dashboard switches being lit. The rotary swith itself is lit so you can see the pointer just not the symbols it is pointing at. Spoke to dealer and they said "they are all like that".
It seems a bit strange to light the pointer in the handle but not what it is pointing at.
Can anyone with a current C class confirm whether it is normal or is mine faulty?

Thanks
Dave

Its a quirk with all Mercedes, I've noticed it also.

VW have the right idea they keep it illuminated regardless of if the lights are on

Thanks for reply, at least I now know it's not faulty.

Still seems bizarre that, despite all the other clever lighting trickery ("intelligent" lighting) on the car - they omit to light up the light swtich symbols.

Yes, my E-Class is exactly the same, light control knob is backlit but positions on dash aren't.

Could I ask a favour in return now, at night when looking at your speedo, is the portion from 0 to max unlit - as if the bottom third of the speedo has a bulb out - if it is it'll make sense when you see it! Like you I'm unsure if its the way it's supposed to be or a bulb out in the cluster.

Just checked in garage. The bottom arc of the speedo (anticlockwise 0 to max ) is not lit on mine either(C Coupe).

Thanks

Cheers thumbup

So either Mercs have quirky dash lighting or both our cars coincidentally have the same faults wink
