Just been watching a few of the long trailers on Youtube for this. Used to play the older ones but was a bit young to fully appreciate them I think.

Looking forward to this.

This series has been getting less and less "open" since the first one... sad to say, I'm not really looking forward to this console-to-pc port version (but will probably buy it anyway wink ).

I'm looking forward to it, enjoyed the previous games so hopefully this'll be just as good! Get those silenced Silverballers and garotte wires ready.

Looking forward to this, I've played all the old ones (well, the first one, its meant to be crap).

Looking forward to playing it 'properly', I always thought the old ones were far too short, but then blasting through each level with a drum mag equipped M16 will do that.

Certainly should be more open world than the last ones.

PC Gamer gave it a poor review (and I tend to agree with their opinions).

I've pre-ordered the game so we'll see....

After Duke Nukem, I should learn my lesson on pre-ordering!

What did they criticise it for? I had it pre-ordered up til last week, then cancelled as I've got a games overload at the moment.

Can't find a review on the PC Gamer website but found one (with no link sadly) on Game Rankings from Playstation magazine giving it 9/10. Probably have to wait 'til Monday next week before the majority of reviews come in.

It is in the xmas mag. It wasnt a complete panning - as MOH got - but was mediocre; like 65% or something.
It has lost lots of its freedom and the disguises dont work as well, apparently.

When i saw the early youtube videos i thought it had more in common with batman.

To be fair, the disguises were always a joke.

Small chinese man with full head of hair goes for a wee, comes back as a 6' something bald white guy with a tattoo on his head and presumably trousers halfway up his legs and a top that leaves his belly hanging out... no-one blinks.

That review is.... not good. Will definately hang on until it gets cheaper. Think I saw the orginal on Good Old Games the other day, might be worth a few quid instead wink

That's an hour long review by totalbiscuit, in it he says how the early release of the game is really buggy which is why the reviewers gave it such poor scores.

I'd say the game looks really good and the amount you can customise the difficulty looks ideal. I'll take no help at all thanks.

Another bad review:

http://www.gamearena.com.au/ps3/games/title/hitman...

Sound like they really have ballsed this up. Anyone of the good reviews authors clearly never played Blood Money.

This is just another cutscene and story driven sneak em up - gone is the free roaming of the whole levels and plotting whilst disguised.

To the people above that said the previous incarnations were unrealistic due to the disguise system working so well - thats was the whole game mechanic!!

Pre-order cancelled. Going to wait for Hitman HD Collections instead.

Watch the review I posted, a lot of the crap has been patched. If watching 45 minutes of gameplay doesn't make you want the game then fair enough.

To me it looks like they've done this sequel justice for once.

Eurogamer is one of the few sites whose reviews I trust these days, and they gave it 7/10:

It's still on my Christmas list.

I feared as much frown I might give this installment a miss ...

Not too fussed about the fixable bugs, more that they've removed the key mechanic of the game - strolling about hiding in plain sight whilst offing people in imaginative ways. Also this one is story driven, many levels apparently just require traversal to watch a cutscene of the hit.

It may well be a good game in it's own right but it certainly doesn't sound like the Hitman I know...

Have you played the previous offerings inc Blood Money?

I played and enjoyed Hitman 1 + 2, never played any of the others. The disguise mechanic needed changing imo. You don't just notice someones clothes.

I'm sure you can go around plotting your angle of attack still, it's just going to be harder to do that.

the way I like to play these games is to lurk in the shadows plotting my next move, staying still thinking about the next best step. Just like how i play the metal gear games.

PS3 version arrived from Amazon this morning. I'll give it a go this evening.

Played couple of PS2 versions years ago. Looking forward to this.
