Singer 911

Just read evo article on singer 911.... For me early 911's were more porno than countach and tennis 'girl' .... Have owned more modern 911's than you can safely comment on at a PHers dinner party but singer "recreations" make me go wibble, embarrassingly wibble, full pencils up nose and Calvin kleins on head.... Am I the only one or is it just a pastiche "bitsa"

That singer in Evo was fantastic - if my numbers came up I'd definitely commission one!

I do prefer the look of any of the older 911 to the 993 onwards, the Singer is a really nice mix of the old looks and new tech.

I`ll be in the queue as well. I wouldn`t even bother with either the Ferrari or the Lamborghini, they`re both a little vulgar beside the sublime Singer 911.

Read it properly this morning - it is a work of art and rapid too, but for the same money you could buy some pretty awesome machinery.

......but the thing here is I could stretch my own money without "the numbers" .....with numbers it's easy....no question, it's in the garage.... But, and I'm a complete ph'er, but would you stretch for it over something that's a bit more mainstream.....eeeek

You haven't seen my "soft spot" for manual 575s. Recorded well on another thread here. Maybe it doesn't make me a ph'er but the depreciation factor for my goddess worries the be'issus outa me

An interesting issue....no doubt a 'bespoke' car is a wonderful item to appreciate and drive, but there are so many older cars that can today be resto modified tastefully. A Porsche Dauer 962 is well up there as would be a 288 GTO. The Singer I am sure would be simply amazing but is it not too bespoke???

I just think the Singer is incredibly special, somehow more than the sum of its parts.

Was considering starting a thread on this very subject yesterday and never got around to it.

I've read the EVO article 3 times already, whilst only giving the McLaren P1 article in the same mag a cursory glance.

My level of want for this car is impossible to put into words, so I wont even try.

Agree with all the sentiment surrounding Singer's recreations - pure automotive art.

A Singer 964 is firmly at the top of my wishlist.
