Under the bonnet of my Chimaera are four pieces of silver stuff (heat/sound insulation??), supposedly stuck to the underside of said bonnet. Two are hanging down. I have tried spraying carpet glue onto them and sticking them back up.......to no avail, the heat just makes them fall off again. Anyone out there got any better ideas as to what to use, please? confused

I seem to remember Sikaflex being mentioned before, but can't remember which one.

I used the stuff in the tube, `hard as nails` or use no nails` from b an q, excellent stuff.

I used builders PVA glue, painted both the sheet and bonnet, allowed to become tacky and then pressed them together.

i had the same problem ! my tvr specialist used normal contact adheisive to hold it down which just came off
when it gets hot , i did some research and found a company called "car builder solutions" they have a contact
adheisive which they recommend for heat sheilds on kit cars i think it goes to 180 degrees
most important to make sure you get both surfaces clean and free of old glue first
fingers crossed its be fine since

I am just about to put a new sheet of insulation on mine. I am going with the no nails stuff. As Clive says quite a few people have used this with lasting results.

Wickes do a traditional solvent laden contact adhesive that is heat tolerant... good for boot lining carpets too smile

No More Nails

But don't use the tube, buy the tape its easier to put on and the heat make it stick forever lol but you need lots of tape

Mine been stuck on now for 5 years no problem

Thanks all. As I didn't plan on nailing it in place I will use No Nails. I used a whole (mastic gun) tube of it last year, sticking a huge sheet of stainless steel to the kitchen wall. Perfect result there, so good idea to use it on the car.

Thanks Simon and Slideways - excellent advice. I have been away this weekend, visiting the family in South Wales and checking out the location of Prescot and Castle Combe by accident on the way back! So I will try re-sticking it next weekend.
