what is an otter switch?
Discussion
It's how we in the north measure temperature, somethings are otter and than others. So therefore it must be something to do with your air conditioning.

hi all can anyone tell me what an otter switch is and why would anyone want to override it?
my 4.0 hc bugs me as it often ticks over at3000 rpm i know this is due to the road speed sensor in the gearbox, can this be dissconected and the tickover set mechanically?
Otter switch is the thing that tells your fans when to come on, you would want to override it to turn the fans on manually if it fails.
Poor idle control is usually caused by a dirty stepper motor, it needs cleaning regularly.
Poor idle control can also be caused by loose, poor fitting HT leads. Happened to me recently. Posted here about the stepper motor
