997.2 GT3RS and GT3 RS 4.0 on the dyno
Discussion
Today we spent most of the day on the dyno doing some comparison between different exhausts and set ups.
All the tests were done same day and with a hour or so in between, and on the case of the RPW exhaust made in Germany we tested back and forth with the car strapped on the dyno, so we could take advantage of the same temperature.
I'll post all combinations and modifications on all cars, and videos to follow, as soon as I can edit them.
Enough talking and let's move on to the results and pics...
Here we got together to drive down to the shop. (thank you AWD Motorsports)

Now already at the shop, cars go on the lift.... First we have Trakcar 3.0 (3.8RS)

Test was done initially with RPW - exhaust with side muffler delete.

Here is the dyno result ...

RPW comes out and stock exhaust just with a center muffler bypass goes in...

And final comparo between both. I'm sorry that we couldn't pick up RPM and torque, but we had very, limited time to dyno and perform all changes thru the day. A difference of 22WHP

As you can see power is up all across the board, the dyno pulls started at 2500 RPM up to 8400. As torque is a multiplied factor from HP and RPW, is pretty clear that is also up.
Now we have Trakcar 4.0.

On the dyno.

Stock exhaust.

Stock dyno sheet

Yes Impressive, but wait .....
RPW Exhaust

And the comparo...

Also one more, dyno sheet from my own 3.8 with RPW exhaust system with catless headers ... I'll post the baseline which was close to 415whp

Really impressive numbers in both situations ... 3.8 and 4.0
Obviously good gains in power across the board, and even more on the usable RPM band, not to say that you keep a great sound and also loose a lot of weight, so we can make up on the beer side
Those of you that are skeptical that lack of back pressure, loss of torque and only gains of HP on high RPM, here is the proof.

Nice write up.
Kidaha, you coming to silverstone on the 8th? Will we get on?
I'm running a system on my 3.8 which either directs the power through just the sharkwerks back pipe, or through the side zorsts as well. One or the other, basically the flap is either on or off. When off the car is much quieter than stock, cold get on to Bedford. When open all hell breaks loose!
Anyone else have this set up?

Sa, The Sharky is a By-pass system isn't it. Just replaces the central back box but runs the first stage boxes on each side as stock. Would have thought that even with sport button off that the lack of rear box means it's louder, even if not by too much as you say. Kidaha, you coming to silverstone on the 8th? Will we get on?

fabspeed side muffler delete with the stock OEM doesn't make any power and the sound is quite loud in low RPMs generating drone, while this system has ABSOLUTELY NO DRONE, and sounds fantastic. The sound is not much louder, but is deeper. They just sound straight fantastic. On the grey car is loud as the car has catless headers, and I don't drive much on the streets anyway.
Sharky is just a center muffler bypass, and you still keep the heaviest and biggest heat source from the back of your car. Honestly doesn't make much sense, if you're performance oriented, like most of us that use our cars at the track all the time.

It's quieter, which is amazing. Ill tell you why. With the stock bx with the sport button on at 3k rpm the valves open and the side silencers are bypassed. With he out button off the same thing at 4k rpm. With my box I can control the valves with a remote control, they are either off or on. What I'm not clear on is are the valves strong enough to withstand constant pressure at 8.5k rpm closed. Anyone have experience of this?M3EvoBR said:

My car neither lost, or gained power with the sharky. I was happy with this, did it for noise.Sharky is just a center muffler bypass, and you still keep the heaviest and biggest heat source from the back of your car. Impressive gains but difficult to use in the UK we have prohibitive noise restrictions on a lot of tracks here. It seems to be hard enough to run with standard systems,
This is the issue, no point in extra power if you can't drive it on a track anywhere. Anything over 105db static and it a huge gamble on track time/money.ETA, nice write up and interesting post from the OP.

Get one of these and never worry about a trackday again, even with a system like sharkwerks!

You shouldn't run (specially at the track) on wide open throttle with the valves closed. You will create a lot of back pressure and heat, and in long term possibly damaging your heads and valves.http://www.carnewal.com/

Mikimu used to have it closed only on the sound checking points at the track. I wouldn't run my own car with the valves closed for the complete lap or even think about the complete session, but that's just me...http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/gt3-gt2-gt/2032...
