All I can assume is that because this kid is now rich he expects to be able to drive a car without passing a test?! WTF is this story anyway? And the BBC goes round there to write a story about it?!

No one should be driving unaccompanied without passing their test, why in the name of Zeus should winning the lottery have anything to do with that?!

He's 17 FFS and won less than £400k. He'll have spunked most of that by the time he's 21, primarily on insurance.

You assume wrong, he's just understandably keen to pass his test so he can drive his new car, as I'm sure you would be if you had loads of money and no license

Still seems like a bit of a leap from "A 17-year-old lottery winner from Louth is unable to drive his new car until he passes his driving test." to "he doesn't think he should have to pass his test" to me.
