Is there a make of car you just don't 'get'?

I know this will bring out lots of brand stereotypes but there are a couple of car makes that I have never seen eye to eye with despite their popularity amongst fellow enthusiasts.
My first nomination is Lotus. For me a good car has to sound good and ideally it has to have over four cylinders, even when Lotus made a V8 it didn't sound like one. I know they handle well, have a good history in F1 and have stuck to making cars to a similar formula, unfortunately it's a formula that leaves me cold.
Second nomination is VW. The old Beetle is an awful car, the old air cooled campers are crap, the whole scene just baffles me - deep dish alloys and dropped suspension on a Mk3 Polo or a Santana does not equal cool. From experience they don't even seem to be that reliable or well made. I can see they have made a few worthy cars but not many exciting ones.

Perhaps in the markets they are made I get it but over here I just can't see who in their right mind would ever consider one.
Even if they are significantly cheaper than their 'rivals' (which i suppose they must be) a 1 year old VW/Honda/Audi equivalent thats just been run in would probably cost the same.
You must have to have a certain degree of mental instability to go down to a Ssanyong dealer. Even if you did just want white goods, buy a toyota. Factor in depreciation and it'd probably be cheaper in the long run!

IMO, More interesting styling than VW and less 'old-persony' than Skoda. And they're advertising this 'no VAT' offer lots recently, which is supposed to save you the equivalent of 20% vat on the car.I think VAG feel the same way ATM too, their sales aren't great, and tbh, what do you offer than you can't get from VW, or Skoda?

It's not that, I have just never wanted a Porsche. I appreciate good engineering but they just leave me cold.Are cars seen as jewelry everywhere now?
