Hello there fellow petrolheads, signed up earlier today as i promised myself a treat when i passed my test.
Passed around 2 months ago and then decided i will join this community!
Well here goes i aint got a car yet, but i have driven a variety of them! Some pre passing all on a private road, officer!
Its only fair and contribute as i been reading the forums everynight for over 6MNTHS!

Wanting something old school, i just find old cars fascinating new ones are boring!!
Ill probs end up with a Avensis 1.8 the 1st editions, n i dont mind at all! If that fails theres also a Vectra and a Honda Accord avaliable. Yes these will be for free.
But if i have to buy something id be looking at Civic MB6's, Vectra SRi's etc. i dont like small cars feel claustraphobic in them !

Interesting choice in first cars. I understand what you mean with regards to small cars. I am learning at the moment in a Renault Megane that is displayed in my profile as I hated the thought of learning in a Fiat 500 (or similar). I would be interested in your quotes on those cars mentioned as I prefer bigger cars.
Although having said that, my sisters Ford Fiesta Mk5 was a hoot around our local roads. It was small, handled well and was bulletproof. It was eaten by rust and in the end no one likes small cars (in our family) so it was replaced.

Hi There JayTee, well i had three different cars that i was taught in. The first instructor used to have a 1.6 Focus Zetec, i found that fun as it was at its end of life so had interesting squeaks and rattles. I found it fun as it was pretty chuckable and it made me change my view on Ford 
He then later got a 08' 58 Vauxhall Corsa 1.3CDTi, i hated the pillar (front screen) as it was too big and obstructing me in my seating position, it was fun onvce the turbo came alive. That was done at around 2,500 rpm apart from that little whistle the car was useless in my opinion.
My last and the better instructor had a 1.4HDi Peugeot 207 that was comfortable and pretty adequete for the purpose.
Before instruction what i used to do is drive a relatives 1.8 Vectra SRi on a private track to learn clutch control cos that helped me loads as it helped me understand cars e.g what if i did this what would happen etc. he then later let me drive his 2.6 V6 vectra which initself helped grow my confidence on controlling a car, and not overly thinking that oo its a powerful car i wont be able to drove etc.
The reason why i dont like the small cars is with me in my seating position im too far back its like practically sittin in the back seat, and then my knees rub against the panels and after prolonged rides they start to hurt.
