I need of suggestions or help.

A tyre firm in Falkirk (ace tyres) have put my locking nuts on with with a buzz gun.
I wasn't watching as I was 180miles away in Aberdeen Hospital very ill and my dad had taken the car for me.
Now I've tried to remove the locking nuts and its impossible. I've destroyed 2 new wheel locking nut keys.
No one in my area seems to have anything to get them off.

Anyone know anyone who can get them off. I'm willing to travel.

I take it you are not in Falkirk or would have taken car back to Ace?

What type of lock but is on them may make it easier if they don't have a spinning outside rim on the nut a socket that's a very tight fit and hammer it on, before try to listen see if you can tighten the other nuts a bit to take some of the pressure away from the lock nut which should ease removal,

If lock nut has a spinning outside rim then tighten other nuts if you can and hammer and chisel smashing time

Used to deal with this problem a few times and after telling tyre garages use impact guns for taking off and not on time is money and gets rushed.

Worst thing could happen is blow torches taken to them and destroys the wheel

Done many a set with some 17mm sockets, Chap them on with a big big hammer and unscrew them. Knackers the socket and the stud tho. I have a removal tool but find it useless on most types of wheels, a big chisel can work too

Do you still have the civic? I used a socket which is designed to remove rounded bolts on my mates car. Happy to give it a go next time you're in falkirk. Next time go to skidz for your tyres.

Robert, I have spent over 500 quid on gadgets to get these bloody awful things off. Every other car we get in has problems like this, but a lot of it is down to the design of them.

Worst of all are Peugeot. Designed by morons, screwed on by numpties!

If you are in Glasgow give me a bell and I'll see what I can do.

The car is in a recovery place at the moment. They are going to split the spinner off the wheel locking nut to them be able to screw it out.

If not. I'll be in touch Jith.

Cheers

I had same issue with my Focus RS, locking key snapped and AA could not remove them with his tools. Ended up taking it to Ford main dealer and getting it removed and all 4 replaced under warranty

I recently had the same issue. A certain 'Fast Fit' place in Dyce got them off in no time, but the guy did it as a favour to his mate who sent me there. Apparently they don't do customer's cars normally as there's the possibility of damaging the wheel, so they don't want to liable for anything.

Not sure how you'd feel about the possibility of damaged wheels, but maybe if you ask nicely, they'll have a bash...no pun intended laugh

Nope! Unfortunately there is no easy fix! Battering on sockets is easy, get the rough size you need and buy 4 cheap ones. If there is a lock ring, chisel that off first then smack the socket on and unscrew. A Garage will probably charge you about 20-30quid each one as it can be time consuming. Since losing 3 keys in the past i always make sure i put them back in the car now, hopefully will never have to do another set!

It can often be worse than that.

I refuse to take these things off for anything less than my hourly rate, mainly because it's bloody hard work!

We had a Jaguar XF in. Jaguar's design team once again displayed their usual brilliance by manufacturing the wheel nuts from soft aluminium!! I don't who thought that one up but they really need their balls chewed by a polar bear.

As they are recessed very deeply into the wheel I had to use a Dremel with a small diamond drill and work away at the stump that was left after the top of the nut had sheared off. Two and a half hours later, the thing came off, fortunately without marking the wheel.

The car was just over a year old. Pathetic design.

Got a small problem with the intlet plenum now. But have a £600 solution on its way. more power!!!!

Just hammer a slightly smaller socket on to them, all 4 of mine done in this way and it took about 30 seconds each, then bin the locking nuts as after seeing them removed you will know how useless they are.
