Do the rear boxes on the Tuscan contain baffles or are they empty? Mine have got nowt in them and IMO the car sounds too loud and raspy, it's also been Decatted, which doesn't help! I've just bought some ccc silenced rear cans as one of the standard pipes had a hole in the carbon and had been partly sleeved (badly) so made it sound really chav tastic hence buying the new cans. I'm yet to try a decent set of standard cans to see if it's quiter. I was hoping the 'silenced' ccc's would be as quiet as a standard pipe. It might sound quieter once used and scooted up a bit...

Are all back boxes like this or is it just mine have been gutted?

I've changed mine for stainless steal ones made by SuperSprint in Italy.
You can still hear the bangs but a lot less and overall the car is quieter.

When they took out my silencers they were cracked a little in some place, I'm guessing that almost all of them on our 10 year old + cars are the same, which doesn't help them being quiet smile

I have de catted, put on a set of large bore ACT cans and I am booked in this weekend to remove the rear boxes. It seems after all my changes the boxes are the issue of "rasp" "tinny" sounds.
She sounds deeper and louder already and hopefully the can removal is the icing on the cake.
I have been after a deeper more aggressive rumble' I feel i am so close now.
I will post a clip once complete.

Yes I think it is the empty back boxes that are the reason they sound so raspy. Not the sound I think the TVR should sound like!

Did you have the back boxes removed, did it get rid of some of the rasp from the exhaust

Just dropped off today. Had work commitments.
I will pick her up Friday or sat morn and report back.
The garage thinks it should help quite a bit.
I think the outcome will have a fair bit of interest on here.

Looking forward to seeing how this works out for you. From memory the cut open rear boxes have angled metal baffle plates in them.

Clivef was working on a cross pipe too which could add to the depth of sound further...

Well I picked her up.............oh my god!!! That is the sound I wanted.
No more tinny wasp,
De cat
Remove rear boxes
ACT big bore cans
Deep rumble
Lots of bangs and pops on over run.
I will post a sound clip shortly.
The team at Longlife in Rochford Essex know their stuff. Check them out if your in Essex and are looking for any aftermarket work. Very good

That has definitely got rid of the resonating rasp that rattles on when you back off the throttle. Sounds really nice. Am wondering now what sleeved standard cans an removed back boxes would be like.

Hmmm maybe I should remove my rear boxes.

Did you hear the same set up before you had boxes removed or did you do it all in one hit?

It started as a de cat.
Louder definitely and more pops and bangs on over run.
Next came big bore cans. Again help to bring the tone down, but the tinny was still there.
So off came the boxes and bye bye irritating noise.
I am glad I did it. Got the exact sound I was after.
I would assume sleeving standard cans will create volume but not reduce the tone.
Each to there own.
Big bore = deep rumble
Standard sleeve = volume
Hope the vid helps anyone trying to gain a different sound.
I will post a video with the new gopro and microphone this weekend. Should get a superior sound than the iPhone post.

It sounds good.

I considered this but was advised by Dom at TVR Power that it would effect the back pressure. I got a longlife centre to make me some with wadding in the boxes, cost £50 each plus welding total approx £150 all in. They sound much better now with the decat and blue flame cans.

Re the removal of the rear boxes, I've cut my rear boxes off. Did you get someone to fabricate a new section, and if so could they make me another pair easily??

Cheers,

Martin

Martin,

Are you running standard or S exhaust system?
The guys in Rochester will fit and fabricate the parts for only £150.
I can put you in touch with the guys if you like?

Its the standard system at the mo, until I can justify getting a full large bore system. Thanks for putting me in contact.

P.s. is your car painted with red bull blue or viper gts?
