Morning all

Search is playing up so couldn't find the answers I need. I'm currently looking into whats involved with a full body lift.

Any ideas on roughly how much the following weigh ?

Body
Engine
Gearbox

Car is a 2000 W Reg, so Serp and T5, if that makes any difference.

Cheers

I have no idea!

I see you're in Surrey as am I.

Please contact me when you are in progress, interested to see one in the flesh, (bones!).

You can probably guesstimate if you work on the fact that the car overall weighs about 1100kg

The the body will be the heaviest component by quite a way so 2/3 & 1/3 split?

Guesses (and a bit of quick googling)
Engine 230kg
Gearbox 30kg
Chassis 50kg?
Other stuff 60kg ?

So leaving 730kg for the body and interior, a reasonable guess?

Wow. Must admit I went completely in the opposite direction.

I had a guess that the chassis and engine/gearbox was much heavier than the body !!

This has changed my thinking entirely on the actual lift, thanks for that eek

Phazed, if I decide to go ahead then will definitely give you a shout.

I'd have thought you're right?

Aren't four or five men able to do a body lift, they'd have to be very strong if lifting 700+ kg between them?

On the other hand I can't see four people lifting a complete chassis/drivetrain scratchchin

Not with ease, I helped Graham lift his Chimaera body and there were about 6 of us and we struggled lifting one end at a time and ended up using an engine and table lift.

The body is one huge lump of fibreglass and is most of the car, there's not a lot left when you take it off.

Maybe it's not 700kg but I'd still guess at it being quite a bit more than half the weight of thecar

I questioned this when I did my bodylift and was told the bodyshell was around 300kg. I only removed the seats so still had most of the interior, electrics and lights etc. Whatever it weighed was dangling from my garage roof on 2 chain blocks for 18 months.
