S Type 2.7 D Sport worry.

Our 07 46k S Type is telling us that us that she is suffering from 'Restricted Performance' but only now and then. When message comes up and engine switched off and restarted issue goes away for a length of time. I have carried out the usual checks i.e. kicked the tyres and used bad language but it has not solved the problem. I am assuming I need to visit our local main dealer but will he or they be able to isolate problem if message is not showing at time of visit? Any help or guidance would be appreciated. I now know that restricted performance is not unique to the male of the species.

I have had this on my XJ. A low voltage or sustained acceleration at low temperatures can cause this. Charge your battery or wait for her to be sufficiently warm before booting it. I am sure their are other causes so perhaps yes visit your main dealer, but dont let them do anything (i.e. change any parts) before they speak with you. I find Guy Salmon in Kingston to be particularly excellent in all situations.
