Taking a S2 to Spain

I am taking the S to Spain and Portugal this summer a lightweight camping holiday!
Would be interested to speak with people who have already done this for good roads etc and to find out what sort of emergency spares is it wise to take.

Are you going via Calais or Santander, assuming you are going from the UK?

Plymouth - Santander is a long boat ride (24hrs approx) but will save mileage and will let you get some rest. If going through Calais then use motorways (I can post M numbers if you need) and go through Madrid if heading for south spain. I can let you know the route I use if you want, although I gotta to say it will take you around two days to complete to south spain. Portugese drivers are f**king dangerous so be careful there!!!!

Take a spare throttle cable as they tend to go at the most inconvienient time (mine on route to a track day / TVRMark's at Le Mans). Motorcraft p/n 6720349 - about £15.

Cheers guys, i am hoping to take the ports-bilboa ferry head to barcelona then across to lisbon then follow the coast road back through porto and northern italy back to bilbao.
Any other thoughts on what to take as spares!!

Bit of a detour to drive from Porto to Bilbao via Northern Italy, otherwise sounds great!

we are going nowhere near italy that was the missus ringing in my ears "would love to go to italy its notfar from portugal" arghhhhh. 2weeks in an s2 might drive me over the edge.

Haven't driven in Spain/Portugal but in France (and others) you have to have: First Aid Kit, Warning Triangle, Spare set of bulbs and Fire Extinguisher.
