The RS is a fantastic car but seems very limited to only loud days or loud circuits.

No Bedford, no Donington, etc.

What Porks can get on track with ease regarding noise?

keep it lit

My old 997 C2S was recorded at 104db with the clutch out and 98db with the clutch in at Goodwood.

Didn't have a sports exhaust and I was conservative on the throttle pedal when they took the test wink

My RS tested at 103db static at Oulton - well over the static test for Bedford. My old car was marginal at Bedford, the new one much louder.

It is 5db louder static than my old Spec C and that was too loud for Donington on drive past on quiet days!

Hmmmm...

The static for Bedford is 101db

I tested 102.6db sports button off, but they let me on, had no issues.... I did pull the plug out towards the end of the day wink but still no issues

Not sure what the db on the gt3 is but had no problems with that either

LOL GT3 has a sports button biggrin It would be same as monster truck had an off-road mode smile

And then to the topic...
I have heard sound insulation can deteriorate with time. I wonder if this is also the case with Porsches?

A 964 with cat bypass but the rest of the exhaust system standard will get on any track (castle combe, bedford and donington have all been fine with mine). But add another bypass and they start to run in to noise problems.

BTW a friend fitted one of these to his exhaust:

http://www.decibeldevil.co.uk/

It took nearly 5db off the static test and no problems with driveby. They come in a range of sizes to fit most round exhaust tips, are easy to fit/remove and relatively cheap at £70 each.

my old C2S with PSE switched off tripped both static meters at Rockingham and Bedford frown though on the drive by, even with PSE switched on its never caused an issue, all that engine noise at standstill really effects the static tests unfortunately.

Yup - it's pretty noisy "uncorked" so it helps to avoid upsetting the neighbours .... but once away from civilisation ...... biggrin
