E Class 350 CDI sport 125edition
Discussion
no idea on the 125. What year/model are you looking at as it isn't a current one.
220 and 250 are four cylinder engines. 350cdi is v6 so quite a bit smoother. otherwise IMHO it is up to you to pick where you feel the right balance between power and MPG sits. Some would say a 220 ot 250 has all the performance you'll ever need. Others would suggest they are limp wristed and couldn't pull the skin off a grape.

Yeah as others have said COMAND is the key bit of equipment. Also get one in Black or Silver with Black leather if you really want to play the resale value game.
That's not quite true. This was mine and a dealer bought it off me for what I wanted privately as he said "At last, one without a boring black interior!"
He sold it it in a couple of days too.
Edition 125 cars came with the comand as standard, and had the later 7g tronic + 'box, which gives you a couple of MPG more on a 350 and about 5 mpg more on the 4 cyl cars, which had the 5 speed auto before that.
That was really about it.

The E220 is a bit on the slow side but the mpg is quite good, the E250 has the twin turbo setup, economy isn’t as good as the e220 but the performance makes up for it.
E220 is twin-turbo also, same engine-different state of tune, I had the 220 engine in a 2011 C-Class, it can be remapped to same performance as a 250 should you wish.Edited by anonymous-user on Wednesday 24th October 22:09

Edition 125 cars only come with COMAND on the C-class. On the E-class you get Nav50, ipod interface and bluetooth.
I have an E200 Avantgarde Edition 125 on the drive, it definitely has COMAND........could have been upgraded by the dealer I guess as I bought nearly new but I was sure it was part of the 125 spec?

125 edition means you get COMAND as standard.
125 got Nav 50 as standard. Lower spec COMAND (smalller screen, no voice control, no HD, no video). COMAND was always an extraFuel injector problem was resolved after June 2010. ('m running a June-build, 2010 250CD estate. Faultless).
250CD has all the real-world power you'd need. I've driven to South of France three times and never felt it was underpowered.

Re the injector problems:
My E-class 250cab is a 61 plate and has just had its annual service. The service advisor has had to rebook it for a pipe(?) to be fitted to take excess fuel away back to the tank from the injectors. He said the injectors were modified in late 10 but this is another service recall Mercedes are doing and the work will take a full day.
Make sure this work has been done on the one you buy.
