Cottage/Villa in South of France/East Coast recommendations

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking to plan a holiday, probably 7 nights, to the South of France, or East coast. I will be driving from Berkshire.
I've had a quick look and there is an awful lot of choice, so am hoping somebody on here has already been to one and can give me some advice or recommendations?
We would need 3 bedrooms, and want a private pool.
Also, I thought it would be costing in the region of £2K, but it seems they are up for grabs in May 2013 time for ~£700! Seems almost too reasonable.
It also needs to be relatively close to civilisation, local shops etc as we would be self catering.
Any ideas?
