Need advice on my notice period!! HELP!!!
Discussion
need some legal advice here on my notice period at work. 18 months ago I got a promotion at work which changed my notice period from 1 month to 3 months. I've just read through my contract and it states that a 6 month probation period will be served with the new position and during that period my notice shall be 1 week from both parties. On passing this probation period I will be notifed and the 3 month noticed period will take effect.
Thing is ok I've been in post for 18 months now but have never been given written notice of passing this probation period.
So where do I stand??
Can I walk away with a weeks notice??? or am I stuck here for 3 months????

To find out you will likely need to contact your HR department, who I suspect will promptly hand you written notification that (as you suspect being in the role past the 6 month probation period) you did pass the said probation and as such need to give 3 months notice.
If you have been offered anther role with a new company I would be contacting them 1st and informing them that you will likely need to work your 3 months notice. If they are not happy with this as you did not inform them, and they withdraw the Job offer, start looking again and inform any prospective employer of the 3 month notice period in the initial interview.
either way good luck
