Is it any wonder.....

I was in Clinton's earlier today buying a card for Mrs T, girl in the shop was serving me and going through the usual crap asking me what other stuff I would like to buy such as a coffee mug or join their loyalty scheme......NO, just sell me the bloody card please. Anyway, before she had even finished a lad of about 17-18 who was hovering by my side jumps in and says "do you have any jobs", girl was a little flustered and said not at the moment but they may have something part time nearer Christmas. At that point "lad" opens his carrier bag and thrusts a CV across to her.
Now, I am all for people helping themselves and it must be a pretty tough market out there for kids at the moment but a good starting point might be some manners and etiquette. I seriously dis-pare at the youth and culture of this Country, only 5 minutes earlier I was walking behind a couple of young lasses when one starts to empty all the crap out of her bag onto the street, not 5 yards from a F'n bin.
I left home at 16 with no qualifications and have never been out of work and I am pretty sure my good manners and work ethic have played a big part in that, the parents of these F wits can only blame themselves. Oh well, at least they have some nice skin art and a face full of scrap metal to be proud of.

I didn't tell him, mainly because he had the look of "speak to me and I will kick you in the teeth" about him. To be honest I could do without the hassle or abuse, if you took a walk around Andover Town center you would probably agree. It did cross my mind and most times I probably would have done, I am all for helping people.

You know that, the lad didn't. Did you take a couple of minutes out of your day to explain a few pointers to him? Might've helped the lad.
Good point, but of course not always practical in the heat of the moment. But what we can do is consider how we can help in a coordinated fashion, via such organisations as http://www.careeracademies.org.uk/pages/about-us.h...Not only do you get to help, but you also get experience yourself of mentoring and coaching as well as Governing if you have additional time.
