Suspect strut ball joints, but before I get dirty thought I would seek advise from the experts (I.e you lot)!

When accelerating from standing start, full throttle, i get a clonk from front near side wheel, only once and only if really accelerating and lifting front end, don't hear any other noises at any time, tyres are not showing uneven wear.
Btw it's a 500sl 2003 50,000 miles. Cheers

The only other noise I could imagine would be fuel tank baffles but if you are sure it is front nearside then it can't be so the ball joints are the obvious ones to check.

There is a fix for this that doesn't include a second mortgage so search on here for the thread.

Upadte on Clonk....actually failed engine mounts...all done now, lovley
