How loud is your RV8?

Looking out the window of my office I'm thinking "it'd be fun to take the griff on track", but then thoughts turn to the Exige only just scraping by at Bedford, and the griff seems louder. I tried to get tested at Oulton but they were busy with a meet.

So, have you had your RV8 noise tested, and what did you score?

I made 121db at castle coombe No cats and sports exhaust. with the bolt on silencers it was down to 114 then with a cat y piece in it went down to 106 I gave up after that !!

My standard exhaust both cats in Griffith 500 made 105.8

Standard system, all cats out at 4.5K makes 99.9db, track day test.

My Old 450SE Wedge was measured at 126 db and never went on track due to this.

Chimaera 450 with Fernhurst "sleeved" exhaust measured at 107.2 at Snetterton last October.

I was only allowed on track after Phazed lent me a couple of silencer cans and the reading went down to 98

I was at least 110db at Snetterton last year with act y piece and cherry bomb system. Thankfully, Phazed had a second pair of spare track day silencers and I got on track.

My old SX did 130.5 dB at the BNG a few years ago.

I have never had the wedge I have now tested for how loud it is, but it is just as loud if not louder.

No track days for me I guess.

Looking at your spec, fix it and get on the track, it's what they're made for!

Agreed, "fixing"is well underway, but how do I get the noise down to a compliance level to be able to do track days.

Standard system, no cats, that's practically 100db which is quite loud and then carry a pair of bolt on cans in case you fail the noise test, jobs done!

As Peter says - pre cats out and standard everything else is 98 in my Griff

OK, my 107 was at 5000 rpm, car stationary and the sound guy had the meter within a metre or so of the tailpipes....

For track use it's 18" at 45 deg from tailpipe at 2/3rds max RPM, i.e. 4500 on a chim, iirc!

Yep, I believe that's correct...usually plus another run at max revs, just for the fun of it.

My 400SE was 109 at 4,500. 122 at (more or less) max. Standard car, tested at the same event as on my vid. Blackpool Wedgefest 2009.

It was about a meter away and off to the side. Around 4500rpm for me.
