just thinking today about how many other people have cars that they know that they will keep for the rest of their or the cars life?

My disco just flew through its MOT Tuesday with no advisories, and today came home with 180.000 on the clock. She's no longer my daily hack so I've decided that whatever happens I'm just going to keep her till she dies smile

so, who else has keepers and what are they? pics please smile

Both of them. As worthless now as they'll ever be, Clio was my first car, currently a project, the Cabriolet has been in my family since new, it's got some patina but I wouldn't sell it for the world. Plus, like I said, both worthless, nothing to gain from losing them so may as well hang on!

My 2004 MG ZT CDTi is a keeper. The only cars I really like as replacements would cost me between £10-£15k to buy (Jag XF / BMW 335d / Merc CLS), and the MG is now fully paid for so no monthly payments coming out. It has 122k on it, and all the major expenditure is out of the way (recent new fuel pumps, battery, brakes etc).

And the MG still looks damn good. biggrin

My 1986 mini, I've had it since I could drive. I've had all sorts of fast metal come and go, but the mini remains.

My 330i touring. Love it, and the only things I would like to replace it with would set me back a fair whack. It's an auto and I bet that's what goes pop first....

Saab 900 T16S

Had it for 8 years, really don't think I could bear to see it drive off down the road with somebody else at the wheel...

My 2011 Alfa 156 Sportwagon, V6, 74,000 miles. No point selling it for buttons.

Exactly, you know if you sell it you'll never get it back

The Caterham is a keeper - I would have to go through a major change in circumstances to ever sell it.

The daily hacks are just that - I tend to chop and change in order that the fleet best meets our needs. Saying that, my Passat will probably stay until it throws a repair worth more than the car and in all honesty the wife's Sharan is probably the same...

I've never liked a car enough to actually want to keep it forever, life is too short to become really attached to a car, so many others to try!
