The engine is dubbed LT1 and "represents the most significant redesign in the Small Block's nearly 60-year history" according to Chevrolet. So yes, essentially the same powerplant but now
in 60 years? really.. marketing hype
when they changed over to the LS engines they went to Ally blocks for the 1st time and that was in the mid 90's... quite a departure from the old pig iron lumps.
