991 tyre dilemma.
Discussion
So last night I got a puncture and didn't notice until it was too late. The inside wall has started feathering.
Porsche locally hasn't got a tyre, so I have had it repaired and am driving carefully. But what to do now?
1. Not replace it and only corner hard on the other side?
2. Replace it?
3. Buy winter tyres and worry about it in the spring?

Options 2 or 3 would be the most sensible.
Did the 'repairer' mend it without question or warn you it wasn't safe?
He said it needed replacing. Then he lowered my car onto the sharp edge of his trolley jack putting a scratch in the sill.Did the 'repairer' mend it without question or warn you it wasn't safe?
So today I am £20 down, have a new scratch on the car and still have a knackered tyre.

Not a good day then, and it's not even the 13th!So today I am £20 down, have a new scratch on the car and still have a knackered tyre.
Are you persuing the scratch he did and getting it sorted by them, or did you not notice it till after the event?
Definately option 2 or 3 then, or try and source a replacement tyre from somewhere else.

Are you serious? You've bought a 991 and you're thinking of only using it in anger turning one way for the sake of a single consumable item. Too funny. Replace it, enjoy the car in all its glory and mark it down to the cost of ownership. LeighB said:

I'd claim on my tyre insurance, I purchased (at a discount I'll admit) when I bought the car, I'm sure when you paid for your 991 you'd have been able to 'do a deal' and like any insurance it seems expensive unit you need it, which errr you do now, I never buy insurance on anything except large items, but at about £330 a pop for a rear the insurance seems worth while for piece of mind, I'd be lucky not to mark a rim or have a puncture in three years and thats covered the premium.
Anyway you have to replace it surely.

I have had four punctures in three months across my cars. Same tyre position each time. Either I am parking in someone's car parking space and they don't like it, or I have been very unlucky.
It just comes from driving across the s
tty streets of Nottingham where the roads are festooned with other people's detritus that the councils can't be arsed to clear up as we don't pay enough £000's in council tax.I'm not bitter at, like you, having several punctures on nearly new tyres in recent months.
Oh no, not me....

4 punctures in 3 months. My first thought was maybe it had something to do with his Jimmy Savile tribute tour he had planned for December, but after quickly cancelling all dates/venues, dyeing his hair black, and ditching the shell-suits.. he should be ok?Zyp said:

That said, a few weeks ago I caught our joiner leaving screws over the road after he dropped a tin of them out his van. He thought I was over reacting until I explained the cost of replacing tyres on my car. He went remarkably white for a black man when I told him that if I found any of them in my tyres he'd be getting £400 less than he was expecting by way of pay. Per tyre damaged.
So Phooey isn't the only one charging men for a screw.
