Had my car about 3 months now, giving it a good clean inside and I come across a rotory type switch positioned between the two air vents by the steering wheel adjustment lever. Moved it about to see what it does but nothing happens thought it was instument dimmer but nope not that, anyone got any ideas?

Yes, aircon temperature I think. Mine is below the right hand side of the steering wheel. It's just a bare potentiometer without a knob.

I had to keep winding mine back until I didn't get a wet foot from condensation dripping down on humid days...

Ok thanks for the help, why doesent it tell you what it is in the manual if it is factory fitted, I was thinking it was fitted by the previous owner.

lol they don't tell you about it cos you're not supposed to be touching it i guess.. most people don't know it's there. if you set it too low the condensation on the heat exchanger freezes, blocks it and you get no cold air at all, it shoud be factory set at about 4 deg C and left at that.

If it looks pants, I may be able to make an aluminium knob to cover it? Ive never seen one, so not sure if I could at the minute, but as soon as I can find someone close by to Leeds who has such a knob (!!) and does not mind me having a look at it (!!) I would be able to give you an answer.

oops It moves round about 180 degrees, so if i leave it at about half way that should be ok?
Would have thought they could mention it in the manual so halfwits like me dont touch it.

Dont think it needs a knob as it is only seen when the door is open.
Thanks for the reply about the gear stick surround, afraid I cant come up to meet you as i live in kent, so I will be sending you a cheque shortly.

Can anyone post a picture of this 'strange switch' so I can see what I am looking for?

I spent 20 mins on my hands & knees in the garage (and the wife wasnt even there to grovel to) and couldnt find this switch (yup, Ive got aircon).

Cheers

Cheers olly, I do recall fumbling round like a gynocologist and feeling something in the right area that in braille would look like the switch on your pic (does that make sense to anyone other than me?).

More knee scratching in the garage tonight methinks
