Tax ran out in December 1999 apparently, probably rusting away in someone's backyard!

I used to have a Rover Sterling 827i saloon with a full Rover Sport body kit, I suspect that's gone the same way!

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "status". It's a Rover.
In fact I distinctly remember some owners of 90's Rovers often bleating on that it had a "Honda" engine in it which some how made their turgid car choice justifiable.

Seriously though, don't ever look back always forward. But like getting back with an ex girlfriend. Never good.

I had two 827Sli's and I quite liked them. 1st one was great and I wish I had not sold it (H694NOB) and then went out straight away and purchased another and it was dreadful. I scrapped it in the end as the alarm would not cut out.

Looking on eBay they really dont show up that often.

It really was something - the hire car that I kept for all of 50 miles was slightly worse than something I'd trodden in after it fell from a doggy-bottom!

I had one of those in 1993 and it was rotting away even then. The chances of one still being even remotely roadworthy today are slim to zero I would say.

From memory the competition at the time were Granada's and Carltons. My father had a few of these of various guises over the years and they proved to be decent cars - reliable with the only failure that I recall being the wiper mechanism which had a weak linkage.

I don't think they were crap at all.
