Took the car in today to have the silencer box removed... Originally to have it sleeved and then on impulse to have it replaced with a pair of "boosters".

I've used the same garage for the lat 8+ years to do exhaust work on a variety of cars and they've always been brillant and this was no exception.

I also got yo spend an hour or so under the car checking the chassis and that's immaculate! Most of the pwdercoating is still intact, even on the outriggers and the other parts barely have surface rust. So I'll get back under there later to paint/waxoyl.

So, the exhaust is done, Paul (the fabricator) took ~3 hours to do the work including making the boosters and cutting the box off, welding the boosters in, welding new mounts etc, etc.

Total cost £180 - which I know is "about right" but considering the quality of his work and the attention to detail I consider that to be a bargain.

The car sounds fantastic now, much, much better and it now draws more attention, which I admit I enjoy.

Must get a video up on youtube sometime soon - but it is pretty similar to the sound of a sleeved Chimaera smile

Be interesting to hear how it sounds. Good bang for buck at that price

Think "Cherry Bomb" but without the brand name..... same thing, just made by a different company and you make bespoke end fittings for them and weld them on

Not the greatest sound quality but it should give you some idea. Wish I'd done a "before" now LOL

Unfortunately just as I started taking them the "health & safety" lady arrived and I was ushered out.

I did get a couple of shots but not of the finished article unfortunately.

the box cut off:

The downpipes ready for the new boosters

Welding the caps onto the boosters so the slip onto the exhaust

I'm afraid that's it, but the "boosters" do look just like cherry bombs, only they are stainless steel rather than gloss red.

Yes - very, very similar mine are a tiny bit more "rounded" at the ends and perhaps an inch larger in diameter but they are pretty much the same thing..
