Roll Bar

Hi All
Today was cold as hell, now when I went to pick up my fuel tank (6 months ago) and before I set off I was on good old ebay, I saw some lotus seats at £9.99 about 3 miles from where I was going, just thought they would be great to sit on when I was having a break ( not wanting to sit on my good Jag seats) so I got them for £9.99.
Well I have finished off the roll bar and decided to see how they look and fit, I think they look great and are spot on for driving position, just wondering if anybody else likes them. Did a bit of a mod on the tub to sit the roll bar back, got rid of the old seat belt mount as I have some 4 point belts.

Alan excellent work as per usual... Must say not a huge fan of the seats but can't argue with price.. Really like what you have done with the roll bar and tub as we are limited for space. I think roll bar now MUST come before carpets in mine now incase I can do something similar.

how much of an active roll bar (as opposed to what the mx5 boys call a style bar) is this ?
reason i ask is that whilst bits of it look like they weld/bolt to the chassis a lot of it looks (though i could be wrong) to simply rest on or near the fibreglass

No its a 6 point mounting into steel





All the mounts are 13mm steel

That looks like a nice job.

One thing to check, if you aren't already committed, is that the top hoops are far enough back to miss a crash helmet.

Yes they are, Thats why I sloped them back bit so I had plenty of room.

Yep, that looks like a properly engineered job. You may however get so much praise that you wil need to move it further back still to accommodate the increased head size!

I love that remark, but I know you're a well-grounded Yorkshireman, it's not gonna happen.

I like the Lotus seats, if they feel comfy & supportive to you, you should go with them, but they do look a bit tatty. Maybe a retrim or refurb is in order?
