Some nice pics there, that yellow GT was just amazing, the interior of that white 993 was a bit tasty as well..loved the fact that you could have a wander around all the cars... excellent day!

Anyone agree with me that the poor white 993 had been butchered?? The interior was impressively detailed but they've ruined it...

More worryingly though, I took my girlfriend along and she's fallen in love with the 356 Speedster..... I can see this becoming very expensive..... any ideas????

Yes. Completely ruined.

I agree about the 356 speedster...

Mrs TS is desperate for us to get one.

Of course, a Chesil replica is the way to go. And some of them are beautifully done.

And is it me, or is the Carrera GT not really suited to speed yellow?

It has the charme of a modified Corsa though

I've already checked out the Chesil website - they look like 'proper' replicas, if you know what I mean. Good resale too if the sales pages are anything to go by... then again my girlfriend wants one in turquoise like the real one on display at Brands.....

As to the Carrera GT... well I'm not a fan of Speed Yellow per se... but I reckon it'd look OK without the roof panels. With them, it looks a touch clumsy.

Waiting for a flame here - and I never thought I'd say this, especially as a 993 lover - but out of all the Porsches on display at the Festival, the best looking ones were the old ones. How's about that?? Certainly shocked me, then again that may be due to the concours-nutball-crew with their unfeasibly immaculate 20 year old cars, along with the fact that continuous development may simply add bloat to the original purity of a design.

Then again, it's probably only in the world of cars that you can lavish care and love on a 40-50 year old model, and end up making it look as beautiful as a teenager. Ahem

Buy her a low-screen GP Spyder for the winter instead...it'll soon put her off!

Just got back from the festival! What a good laugh ...we drove round Brands in the world record attempt . Anyone else here get involved? How many cars did they manage in the end?
Everyone was backing off a bit to get a good run down the hill!

I was there, too - I wish there had been a bit more information during the long wait for the numbers to assemble, but otherwise interested to see the wide range of cars there. But I didn't get an estimate of the numbers and I've no idea whether they were even approaching the record.

I meant to add my own comment on how awful that white 993 was - I've never seen anything so tasteless, both inside and out! Yuk!

I went on the sunday and had a good day out, the open paddock was a nice idea. I thought the carisma 993 was totally tasteless apparently 200k+ went into it and just shows that money does not buy taste.

I have put some pictures up and can be viewed here

I was there watching the record attempt, and they said "about 230 cars" on the tannoy- but then they only guessed so it could have been higher.

I also did the 944/928/968 parade and the chronological display. It was excellent fun- the parade was NOT a statly procession but actually quite fun. I saw 110 on the start/ finish staright on one lap- far more then a parade!!!,

I can also tell everyone at work that "my car was keeping up with a Carrera GT and ahead of a 996 GT2.."

I think I'd better lie down now. Ahem...
