Hope to get it in a week or so and given I only live about 1/2mile from Llandow circuit taking it on a track is a given.

Wow - thats a great spec. Congrats.

It is identical to one I had a few years ago and it was a brilliant mix of all out race car when you wanted it to be, yet a smart looking car to go out in the evening in. You will love the way it drives - the whole 996 GT3 experience is very unique among its brethren. If you feel even an ounce of doubt about the driving experience then get the geo looked at at one of the known operators (9E, JZM, CG, etc...) as they can be setup for different tastes and levels of focus.

Since it reminds me of my old one, here are some gratuitous pictures. Enjoy

Congratulations and welcome to the fold, please keep us updated on how you get along with it.

They really are amazing machines, but go carefully in the first few weeks especially as the winter weather arrives...

Loads have. Including me. 996 is quite a bit more hardcore even though its looks the other way round. PASM is an advantage on a road car but less than ideal for the ultimate track set up.
996 Recaros are better than the substantially more pricey buckets in the 7
Performance very similar in a straight line.
They're all very adjustable so you can set it up how you want. Stock, the 997 has sharper turn in and keys in to the road better, the 996 is stiffer on the front axle and can jump on bumpier surfaces (disconcerting)
Interior is a generation on of course but who honestly really cares about that.
They are all wonderful.

Thanks all to the comments, Will post some pics and an update when the car arrives.

It's my only driver but then again only rack up 2000 miles a year due to working away

Its a brilliant car. There's something very "Porsche" about Renaultsport and what they do. A real obsession with all the really important facets of a great drivers car.
