Replacement for Lexus LS460?

My girlfriend's father lives in New Jersey, and his LS460 is just coming up to 3 years and 60,000 miles. He's asked me what he should be looking at as a replacement, other than the latest LS. I've said S-Class, Panamera and the new Range Rover, what am I missing out? He wants 4 wheel drive for the bad winters, but prefers a sedan as they also have a giant pickup for doing stuff with the horses.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention he's 6'5" and he wants at least four seats.

What about an Infiniti M? Comes in AWD version, (ATESSA system as seen on skylines), and a range of engines. Sedan, and has a good image in the US, (as opposed to Europe). VERY comfortable, and the V8 is a lovely smooth thing indeed.

Also have a hybrid, V6, V8 and a diesel soon I think.


I drove an Infiniti G35 in upstate NY, (in the area that gets the most snowfall in any co rigours metropolitan area in the US, and had no issues at all. Would get another without a pause.

The Mercedes S Class is a 4x4 in the US and I think BMW with the 7 series will do a 4x4. The weather in NJ is not that bad even in mid winter. Obviously a Range Rover, Lexus LX and GX are 4x4's, Panamera, G Wagen maybe...and thats about it unless he wants an Audi A8 or Q7.

I'm not sure a Infiniti G35 would be right for your girlfriend's father. Although conceptually the Infiniti G35 might fit the bill, it starts at 38,500$ while the Lexus he has been driving for the last 3 years starts at 72,000$ - slightly different price levels. The G35 is also ES/GS sized as opposed to LS sized. Is he wanting to down size?

BMW offer the 7-series with xDrive these days.

BMW offer the 7-series with xDrive these days.

Infiniti M. A much bigger car than the Infiniti G, and aimed at 5 series/E class segment. The AWD model starts at $50,000 and the V8 version is $63,000.

I think that Jaguar have just announced AWD versions of the XJ, for "selected markets" (including North America). I'm sure a local dealer would have the scoop on price and availability etc.
