PS3 update issue.....am i destined to be screwed?

Just turned the PS3 on for the first time in a couple of weeks and went to install an update. it downloaded ok but is now installing....it's been stuck on installing 99% for a good 30mins or so now.......is this normal!!??

Mine got to 99% and then froze but it only stayed on 99% for a couple of minutes.

Just don't turn it off, let it finish.

Seems to be pretty common if you search, lots of unhappy PS3 owners on the forums.

Also you're forced to have singstar in your games list, at the top, Sony are starting to get on my tits.

looks like i've got away lucky. after over 3 hours of not working i turned the PS3 off at the back and switched it back on (it wasn't going to work after 3 hours anyway!) and it then said installing....and when back up but didn't freeze at 99% this time.

strange, but pretty lucky!
