If you have a stereo with a USB port fitted you could use the output from that to charge it (I think).

Personally I don't have an issue with my cable, don't find it inconvenient at all...

Don't help you at all Daz, but I've got an accumate lead that comes out by the battery box. I fitted a cigar multiplug on it that sits under the dash. TomTom etc comes from that side & is spot on.

Actually, that's a really good idea. I may well copy that as it means there's a plug for a trickle charger and another socket to charge things... Cheers

I dropped a couple of these behind the dash for my TomTom and RoadAngel...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160802002588

They work very well (fed them from the ignition switched feed that goes to the headlight switch) ... don't charge an Apple device as they need a link making across the USB connectors but they chrge anything else that uses USB.

Or buy a gigarette lighter extension lead from Maplin / Halfords and chop it in half if you want to do it tomorrow...

I must admit the location of the socket is a PITA as far as TomTom is concerned. I was passenger less on this years Le Mans trip and having to get out at the tolls - tripping over the bloody cable - again - with my mate behind 'beeping' (at every toll - it did wear a bit thin after a while rolleyes ) me as he sat on his fat arse in his crusty Vectra mad

As a direct result of this I will be adding a new charger point wired in parallel from the existing power supply, it shouldn't be too difficult to trace back from the door once the carpet is unpeeled.

They can be sourced from Maplin too if you want to make up your own Accumate cables. biggrin

I have ... but it all got very nasty when the RSPCA got involved and they took out that restraining order banning me from being within 100m of anywhere with live poulty. hehe
