is it possible to put an engine from a right hand drive car into a left hand drive, will mounts and stuff like that be different?
the car would be an e36.

Common sense tells me yes ... manufacturers couldn't afford to change anything to do with engine mounts etc. on r/lhd cars

Starter motors are often on the other side apart from that not a lot is different

We are just about to put an M3 into an LHD E46 Touring.
Will let you know if we meet problems.

The engine and mounts etc no problem and I`m sure any problem is easily overcome??.What you may find different is various items like exhaust manifold and front pipe? odd hoses or vacuum pipes? and cables? all these being different shapes/sizes to clear steering or what ever.
