What an excellent birthday present! From my insurers?

Well, I turned 25 yesterday and my insurance was automatically renewed. At first I was very angry as I had not received a letter 30 days in advance, but rather an e-mail at 10am telling me this. Ready to go on the warpath I thought that I better check what the price was.
To say I was pleased would be understating it! The cost of my insurance is now £700 (approx) less than it was the year before. I reckon that this is to do with an accumulation of factors: 1, I am now 25. 2, it's been five years since I was stopped for driving under the influence and 3, I now have 5 years ncb.
Has anyone ever experienced something similar?

, tbh though it wouldn't have been that much better as I was 19 when I committed the offence so my insurance would have been quite high anyway shirleynotyet said:

So you've never made a mistake? I was done the morning after at a random stop and check. I didn't feel any different from normal I'd just had a few the night before. After going through an awareness course I realised how easy it is to be over the limit the morning after I don't want to excuse my behavior (Because there isn't an excuse) but just explain the situation.shirleynotyet said:

It is not so black & white. There are varying degrees of drink drivers, as with everything. What you are effectively saying, is that I should never be allowed to drive again, and therefore you would be restricting my ability to work, to provide for my children and how much I would be able to see them, if I had to rely on public transport for all my transport needs.What I did was not 'right', and I have been punished, also luckily my stupidity did not kill or injure anyone else. All I am saying, is that it is not always so clear-cut.

king hell, the holier-than-thou st about drink driving on here is so tedious.
If driving were so difficult that it can't be done safely after two pints, I don't know why they let all of those morons--you included--ever get behind the wheel, drunk or sober. Half the time you're all tired, on the phone, thinking about your secretary's ankles, picking your nose, fiddling with your sat nav, drinking coffee, trying to get your poxy Audi into the boot of my car. Frankly, I'd feel safer if you were pissed. At least then you'd be concentrating on not doing anything stupid.
And why anyone whose relative has been killed in a RTA in which a driver was over the limit thinks his opinion is worth any more than the next man's is beyond me. If anything, his opinion should be totally discounted for want of objectivity. And I'm a teatotaller before you ask.

So, you're saying I deliberately and knowingly drove while over the limit. You couldn't be more wrong. However, I did attend a drink rehabilation course during my ban, in which I learnt how long alcohol can actually stay in your body. This was a real eye opener to me, and taught me some valuable facts.shirleynotyet said:
