I worked at perrys during the big floods in rotherham, 2007. Their entire stock was written off and it was our job to move them all. Most worked fine but there is a reason they write them off. Possibly future major electrical faults (if thats possible) or corrosion but i would be quite wary.

In mass floods they're written off as they can't be guaranteed to be free from contamination by sewage in the flood water. They're supposed to be destroyed.
I had a 535i e34 a few years ago all was well until it developed random electrical faults , upon inspectio it was found that every connectin up to 18 inches had corroded and were now falling apart the car was only 4 years old and had no write off history but the conclusion was flood damage and the car was scrapped .
in 2000 i bought three flood damaged Vauxhall vectras all three were between 18 months and 3 years amd paid £500 for the three. all were stripped steam cleaned and dried out. found private buyers for them all, the buyers were made aware and were happy to buy at less than half the street value. would do the same again if the chance came up.
