polishing back panel

hi guys i have a robin hood 2b+ i want to polish the back panel where it has been rubbed over the years with the spare wheel can anyone tell me without replacing the panel how or what can i use the polish the panel back to where it was it is badly rubbed can you help please thanks

it would be good to know what material the panel which is badly rubbed is because in order to get the panel back to where as it is badly rubbed you need to polish it with the right stuff
