Hello all.

Ive finally got the new toy in the garage, and although its not a wedge its actually built later than my silver 280i FHC 2+2!

Its a 3 litre essex engined Taimar, and Im loving the gold colour!

Shame they didnt powdercoat the chassis as well as they did the FHC one!

It needs a bit of work, and the electrics need some serious attention, but Im getting into it already!

I know its in the wrong forum, but Ive posted in the classics section and there just dont seem to be as much interest over there as I would expect, and I know you guys love ALL TVRs!

Love you all, even Gavlarr and the Chimp!

Nearly Dave, Im pretty sure its the ignition switch (from a TR6) as Ive errr, 'made this one work' and Ive got power to the coil now.
Im looking for a ballast resistor and condenser for it and might aswell change the coil while Im at it, along with some new points (perhaps an electronic set up in the near future)
Stick some fresh fuel in it and away we go!

But thatll be next week when I get back from Suffolk...

watch this space!

Yes Bling boy!

I dont think Ill put anymore gold bezels or gearsticks on it!!

wink

Having said that, when the Chassis goes off for powdercoating I might ask if he can get a gold fleck in it..

If the Ignition switch is part way down the column by your knees its Spitfire, if it's a later one with the ignition switch behind the wheel it is TR7

Lumenition is the way to go, mine was on the car when I bought it in 1990 and on it when I sold it in 2002, never missed a beat.

Ill definately go Lumenition as soon as I can get the engine started and running properly.

The ignition harness switch turns out to be the US spec harness with 8 wires on it, so Itll take a little longer to source than first thought, but Im on the case!!

SHE LIVES!!!

Ive had a bit of time to get out and play with the cra and today she turned over in anger properly for the first time in 16 years with a spark and a bit of easy start!!

Now to get some pertrol in there and run her up to temperature.

then, strip her right down and send the chassis off for refurb!!

A good end to a poxy week.
