Noticed the modifications these guys came up with for fastening down rear clip. Possibly of interest for those looking for alternatives to standard Ultima catches ?

I think someone has already done it. Those AeroCatch can be fitted for side entry and I'm sure I've seen pictures of a GTR with them fitted on the side of the clip.

Can't see that they offer anything more than a standard factory latch. You can still forget to do them up, they won't be any stronger and it will be more difficult to add a warning device.

I have them on the GTR. I disagree with Steve but not often. I don't like the bear claw factory catchs because if you fail to insure that the handles are all the way in you can shut the backend, they will fill latched but when the car moves and the cables still have tension on them they can unlock. Yes if everything is adjusted exactly as it should be this should not happen, what can I say? With the aero catchs once you have looked the pin in place with the over center handle something would have to break to get the backend to open. Just my thoughts, I have had the aero latchs for for two years now and they have required little to no attention. Lee

Lee have you got any photos of your aero catch install?
I have had doubts about the Fiat catches, on occasion they have felt tight only to be found open later on.
Also what ratios have you fitted to your top two gears? And who did the work?

ETS With the aero catch is there any play in the pin-lock or rattle from them when driving?

We have Aerocatches on our car and they work very well, you just need to keep them lubricated every so often. They are easy to adjust and look smart, the only downside is that they will need a custom mounting bracket for the pin, but its pretty straightforward.

If you look at the pictures you will see a rubber sleeve on the pin. This is supplied overlong and you trim it down until you have the sprung preload you require.

The aerocatch3 looks an intriguing alternative to the central catch at top of cockpit / rear clip
