Driving like Richard Head with a memorable registration no

So I'm on my way home and in front of me there is a red car, probably a Ferrari (sorry, I don't keep up with all the different versions) with a distinctive registration, two letters and 3 numbers. This is on a quite twisty NSL road that I have just turned onto. This car is all over the car in front of it, then the two of them go around a curve in the road and down a short slope to another bend. Just before the far bend there is a minor road to the right. The slope has double white lines, unbroken on our side.
By the time I round the bend chummy is disappearing around the next bend. What he's done is overtaken on this short stretch, crossed the unbroken line and given three drivers a fright, two that were coming up the hill towards him and the guy he overtook. He would need a very fast car to do that, even most bikes don't attempt it and I've seen them do some pretty crazy stuff on that road.
Perhaps the driver of the presumed Ferrari with his instantly memorable registration is relying on the inertia of people like myself not to report him? Sometimes I wonder if people should make more effort to report crazy driving stuff but would it help, would the police actually do anything?

No and no. Just get on with your life.Luck will run out for them eventually, and you just have to hope no-one else is involved.

No, I didn't see the move. The visibilty on that stretch is not good. Chummy must have booted it as soon as he could see past the car in front, and relied on his acceleration to get past the car before the car coming the other way got there.Either that, or the mother ship beamed him up and then back down again a few hundred yards further on.
I don't know what you drive but in general I find people who haven't driven really fast cars / bikes can't comprehend what in their car would be suicidal can be perfectly safe in the right car.
I do drive quickly and I like short plates which spell words and I've never had the Police visit me.
I did have when I was 18 and had a very normal car and plate so in answer to your question the Police sometimes will do something but having a distinctive car / plate (in my survey of one) doesn't seem to matter.
I did recently see a plate that spelt K1LLER (with the addition of a screw) which I decided not to buy as it was more likely to be reported or exacerbate the situation should I ever be involved in an accident.

I got stopped by the police a few weeks ago for something similar.
Police got a report of imprezas racing(FYI, I wasn't involved at all in this. Just wrong place at the wrong time)on the A1 just before Morpeth. I was pulled just after the Metrocentre.(This journey took me 40 minutes due to traffic)
The police told me a concerned motorist phoned in the report and he was dispatched to intercept these troublemakers. Apparently it took me 7 minutes to get from Morpeth when the call was made to the Metrocentre when I was "intercepted"
After explaining the physics behind 20 miles in 7 minutes is an average speed of 170mph and a 280bhp impreza with big daft wings and scoops will struggle to hit 140mph. I was let go with a warning(Yeah, don't visit Newcastle again)
Anywho, long story short. He told me he plans on giving out section 59s to the next imprezas he pulls up and they should consider themselves lucky that the person phoning the report in does not wish to press charges otherwise it'll end up in court(Scare tactic I presume since the only evidence is a concerned motorists' statement.)

Well, seeing as you are interested enough to ask, I drive an old Volvo estate . However I have driven a number of cars that would be fast enough to pull a stunt like that, so I am well aware that a much smaller gap is needed than would be in a car like mine, for instance. It wasn't really whether the move was safe for the occupants of the car that was the point of my original post. It was about whether driving a conspicuous car with a distinctive registration number, in that manner, was a good idea or not. If I was going to drive like that again, IOW, like a t
t, I would prefer to do so in a car that would attract less attention. Still, if as you say it's getawayable with then I expect he will continue to do it.
