I was wondering if some kind soul would mind PM-ing me the methods to access the boot if the solenoid fails and also to access the car if the battery is flat.

I only ask as I am conscious that although I know the method for my S I don't for the Chimaera and I almost locked the keys in the boot at the petrol station today, after having locked the car!

It's a late 96 model if that makes a difference (silver buttons on the rear quarter but no external key holes).

I haven't needed this info yet but that one close call was enough!

Going to be fitting a remote boot release kit soon, think I'll keep that key fob separate to my keys!

On the topic of remote boot releases (being as I brought it up), the plan is to buy a cheap "remote locking kit" from ebay for around £15, add in a small 12V leisure battery (£15) and wire that up to the existing solenoid. That way it's independent of the electrical system on the car (aside from the solenoid).

I've fitted the same to my garage door at home so I can unlock that with a keyfob so I know it's pretty easy to do..

The battery should keep its charge for ~3 months or so (based on my experience with the garage door) so I'll just wire an optimate socket to it and charge it when needed (the original circuit will still be in place anyway).

I know there are other kits available but this is something I know how to do and know works smile

Or if in the garage you could just leave the boot lid unshut. I do this just in case!

Garage? That's full of bikes, so the Chimaera and S have to rough it out on the drive. I'm not too worried about anything happening when at home, more when I am out and about. But if i did have a garage I would do just that smile

It's a reasonable assumption, and in a perfect world it would be smile
