R32 and other toys

Sold my old VR6 and decided to be Carlos for a while, and could not take it. Yes, it makes no sense to own a car in London, that’s rather excessive on fuel, insurance and tax, but what they hell, I love it. I'm not a "stance" guy, just really love big engine’d silly hatches. UK also needs a little bit of a change from dreary black, greys and dark blues, so something to brighten up the roads.
I don’t commute with it, it’s a complete toy.
Picked this up for my Birthday, beautifully kept R32 with 45k miles.
It’s done service to Le Mans Karting 24, and across to Wales for Mounting Biking and Enduro trips.
Came back for a midnight squirt down…….. yes…. it needs no introduction.
One thing I appreciate in a car is hands free, as sometimes you just have to take a call without getting points on a license. I was trying to keep OEM, but the RNS510 with Bluetooth module and various bits a and bobs turns out to be a mediocre system at best for a rather large sum of money, and the Kenwood solution looks close to OEM, with Garmin and more flexible Bluetooth. So picked one up, and installed it over the weekend.
So, my collection of wheels in the UK at the moment is:

If I were buying a car purely for pleasure, it certainly wouldn't be a practical family car made to go a bit faster. So I don't really understand your choice of car.
The fact remains that it is a nice car, I just think that more fun could be had for the same money, when things like practicality and fuel consumption aren't an issue.

I dont really listen to radio, had just ejected all the disks. Actually, what is a good radio station? Can never seem to find one.

Fun cars? TVR. Monaro. Lotus. Or - dare I say it - MX-5.

Having a motorbike, I see absolutely no need for a 2 seater sports car. The bike will be better in every way.
I'm not sure why I need to defend this car, but here goes: I mountain bike, snowboard, and am one of the few in the hood with a car of my mates, which means trips to movies etc with it. 4 doors and folding rear seats made their case. I also spend a good deal of winter driving from ski resort to ski resort with a snowboard thrown in the back and hopefully a blonde on the passenger seat. This car is simply superb as a highway cruiser, with practicality, reliability, enough horsepower and grip to destroy “sports” cars (like a certain GT-86 from a weekend ago
), and then the soundtrack of what must be one of my favourite sounding engines. I’m not brave enough to buy TVRs and the like – I see enough RAC vans with them. I’d love to have one day when I have a garage, space, and multiple vehicles, but this is a little more realistic to park on the streets in London. At the moment I'm into more activities than I can handle, so track days are out, and I get to drive proper caged track cars back in SA anyways on return visits.

Usually I keep cars 6-18 months max, so far had my r32 for 3.5 years. I still have no want to change.
For me it ticks so many boxes, it's an only car so has to be a good all rounder, not too big but can take four adults in confort. Comfy with a good spec. Fun to drive, nice to look at, yet doesn't offend anyone. To non petrol heads its a golf, I don't feel like I'm driving a flash car when I visit customer sites. To people who know, it's a reasonably quick hatch with a very good v6, often makes a good conversation starter.
It's not the fastest car on the road, but its not slow, it handles great and has enough power to pass things safely.
The only negative is the mpg. I'm getting late teens home to work, mid 20's on a run. Can get 32 driving like an absolute saint.
I plan to keep mine a couple more years.

Thinking about it, but I'm not really one to upgrade/change anything unless there is a proper benefit to it. I changed the pipes on the bike out of a safety concern. Depending how much of my stash the HMRC will deem appropriate to take, I may look at a turbo/supercharger conversion. There seem to be a couple. If its going to be chaved up, might as well go big
