Trail bike to add to my collection (recommendations welcome)

Currently have a Giant Defy for the road and a Scott Scale which is used either on road or fairly tame singletrack. I would like to get something a bit more aggressive for riding trails.
Budget is to be on the smaller side of £1k, although £600-800 would be great. Was initially looking for a FS but there isnt a lot within budget apart from the Rockrider 9.1.
Any recommendations?
